Coaching
I enjoy helping people. I am told I am affective at helping people. I am often urged by therapy professionals and others to open a life coaching business. I like the idea. I don't like charging for this type of help. Charging for help like this feels to be a violation of the "We're All in This Together" principle I do my best to live by. On the other hand, one needs to eat. One also does not live by bread alone and this lifetime's merriment tends to cost money. How do I reconcile this conflict? My resolution is to lean into "We're All in This Together" moreso than into a business pursuit and retain the business elements enough to provide an operational framework. My approach:- I do not charge for life coaching.
- I accept tokens of gratitude.
- If after three discussions with an individual I am not helpful enough to have inspired expressions of gratitude to begin manifesting I will very likely determine I am not providing any benefit and terminate the coaching arrangement.
- If I come to believe I am not providing any more benefit than a regular opportunity to vent I will very likely determine I am not providing any benefit and terminate the coaching arrangement. This is regardless of frequency our magnitude of expressions of gratitude. I am in this to help others move forward and improve their lives, not to buttress complaining in complacency.
- My entire practice is based on the principle that you are the driver at the wheel on this journey that is your life. I am merely a navigator offering to help you along this stretch of the road. How you travel it, if you travel it, is entirely up to you.
Taking the above described approach feels very much consistent with my "We're All in This together" principle. It is others that also believe in this principle I hope to inspire. If you are interested in Life Coaching assistance from me it works like this:
- Create a login on this site.
- Fill in request form describing your dilemma and the assistance you seek.
- I will review your note and get back to you.
Additional notes for the curious:
- Creating a site login is essential to the process because it allows us to interact while at the same time protecting the site from predator hackers. Once a login is created links will appear on this page and elsewhere on the site that will enable you to contact me.
- There is currently a question requiring to be answered to register on the site. Yes, the answer is "blue." It is not a trick question. It is a strategy for ensuring you are a human and not a bot trying to abuse the site.
- Do not take it personally if I decline to assist. There are many reasons this could happen ranging from compatibility of your concern with my offering, to simply not having room in my schedule for taking on the described situation. I most likely do not know you. There is no way my declining your case could be a personal commentary on your character or worthiness.
- Regarding the inevitable question "what is an acceptable token of gratitude?" That is up to you. Gratitude is an expression of the heart. There is more than one currency in life. I accept both the major currencies in our current life situation, time and money. If you're pinched financially and instead spend some time making me a card, helping me with my chores or anything of the like I find that touching. Schedule slammed and your wallet is within reach? I take cash, check and Bitcoin. I am also appreciative if you prefer something more creative like buying me a beer, dropping some concert tickets on me or giving me a truck. I drink non-alcoholic beer, appreciate any music that isn't steeped in rage and lean toward electric vehicles. It's just the way things are going. 😊
