Hidden Freedoms - Prose
I am not even sure where to start with the prose of this poem. My intent with the format of this book is to bring you some awareness of the man behind the writing, to bring understanding of from whence the poem was born. The "Hidden Freedoms" prose could require a book alone. For "Hidden Freedoms" is riddled with hidden messages.
My intention with the compsition of this poem was simply to write of a character who doesn't realize their own power until they reach beyond what is believed to be reasonable. As I wrote I found opportunity for other messages such as the dangers of comparing ourselves to others, and the fear of judgement. Both of these were natural additions in that they are so often the great inhibitors in lifes climb of our own personal trees of freedom.
It seems also that every person I have given this poem to has found messages of their own along Erin's journey. There is the observation of how if Erin had worked to achieve the abilities he admired he would never have known the abilities for which he was born to excel. Another of my favorites is the observation that the very breeze Erin huddled against was the same that lifted him to freedom.
I have provided the prose throughout this book to give you the reader an opportunity to understand the place from which it came. The reactions I receive over "Hidden Freedoms" however epitomizes my feelings of the poems themselves. I have borne these poems and I can describe how they came about, but it is the reader who actually gives them life. For every interpretation that is made there is a new dimension to the writing.
The words and intentions may be mine, but the interpretations belong to the world at large.
