Hidden Freedoms

Prose

Reaching

Alone in the dirt. Laying in the filth of all that lives now, or has ever lived. Surrounded by the decomposing remains of brethren. Above rolls skies of gray bearing rains seeming to mire all existence.

The infinite darkness is broken only slightly, at first, by occasional illumination. Reaching for the light it becomes consistently brighter. Passing beyond the nurturing soils a beautiful flower, its velvet pedals expanding in every direction, blossoms in the brilliant sunlight. Thankful for the passing rains.

From the foundation of all experience, moistened by the tears of compassion, illuminated by the sunlight of wisdom, erupts the flower of mankind.
